    Description

    About Us

    Our Mission

We’re creating a world where adults with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities thrive.

We work hand-in-hand with our community members and those who love and support them — listening first, then building solutions together.

We envision a world where individuals with intellectual disabilities are equipped with the necessary tools, support, and resources to create a joyful and fulfilling life, integrating into society in meaningful and impactful ways.

    Role Overview

We’re seeking a creative, detail-oriented Social Media Intern to help us expand our online presence and share our mission with the world.

In this role, you will design engaging social media content, create compelling written and visual materials, and help grow our reach on platforms such as our website, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

This position is ideal for students interested in public health, disability advocacy, social impact, nonprofit marketing and communications.

Please note: This is an unpaid opportunity. The internship may be eligible for academic credit (please confirm with your academic advisor).

    Key Responsibilities

    1.Content Creation, Storytelling & Posting

    • Develop and schedule posts across social media platforms that reflect the landscape understanding, our mission and goals
    • Create graphics, short videos, and other visual content
    • Draft captions, stories, and blog-style updates that reflect our mission and tone
    • Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages when appropriate
    • Tell the stories with our community, not for them
    • Find ways to amplify the voices of our community
    • Manage our social media channels, and connect with our community there
    • Create a calendar to outline posts and help us plan to work on those

    2.Research

    1. Research trends and propose creative campaign ideas
    2. Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent branding and messaging
    3. Study the landscape, challenges, ups and downs, and different stories of the population and our community to create compelling storytelling for different mediums

The Social Media Intern has a passion for amplifying voices and finding different ways to share stories. You're also passionate about supporting the IDD community, contributing to creating a better world for them, uplifting their voices, advocate for their rights, and improve their access to resources.

The Social Media intern has expertise with tools to create and post compelling content, especially for carousels, infographics, blogs, newsletters and reels.

    Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who are:

    • Detail-oriented and have familiarity with social media platforms, project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Canva, Later, Spreadsheets, Monday.com)
    • Strong researchers with the ability to synthesize information clearly
    • Organized and self-motivated
    • Passionate about improving access to information for the IDD community
    • Have strong writing and visual storytelling skills
    • Creative, attentive to detail, and self starters
    • Have ability to work independently and meet deadlines

    Commitment

    • Duration: March–June 2026
    • Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week
    • Format: Fully remote
    • Schedule: Flexible, with one required weekly team meeting (Wednesday at 11 AM exact meeting schedule confirmed prior to start)

Interns are expected to contribute consistently throughout the cohort and complete assigned regional research and verification goals.

    Benefits

    • Hands-on experience in nonprofit work and content creation
    • Exposure to disability advocacy
    • Professional mentorship and structured team collaboration
    • Build your professional portfolio with real-world content

Most importantly, your work will directly support adults with IDD, families, and caregivers by improving access to life-changing resources.

    Compensation

We appreciate your interest in contributing to our community, as this project helps families, caregivers, and adults with IDD connect with the resources they need to improve Quality of Life (QoL).
