    Description

Human Health Project (HHP) is a holistic health literacy charity. Our mission is to improve the health of the underserved and vulnerable through holistic information, education and advocacy. Our objective is to empower people to manage their own health with improved outcomes and no medical errors. For more information, please visit our website including viewing our "Shared Patient Information" program page which includes 50 pages of reports on both our Migraine and Lupus and feedback received from people who reviewed the reports in the section, "What Our Members are Saying" - https://tinyurl.com/4c5y3mfa and our "Healthcare Access Program" which includes short video courses in our Learning Academy - https://tinyurl.com/4xwdz5wh , Patient Advocacy Workshops in Los Angeles, - https://tinyurl.com/mryave5x and in Northern Ireland - https://tinyurl.com/nhj6kp7p and our Online Peer to Peer Events - https://tinyurl.com/5ddmxuyn

    Why this matters

    This role unlocks scale.

    What They Do

    • Build relationships with universities
    • Connect with education departments
    • Set up student pipelines
    • Coordinate internship/volunteer programs

    University boards:

    1. Centralized University Job Boards (Post Once → Reach Many Schools)

These platforms distribute roles across multiple universities.

    Best ones to use:

    • Handshake
    • → This is the #1 university recruiting platform globally
    • → Used by 1,500+ universities
    • → You can post volunteer, internship, and fellowship roles
    • 12twenty
    • → Used by top universities (especially grad programs)
    • → Strong for business + education schools
    • Symplicity
    • → Powers many university job boards
    • → You may need to post school-by-school through it

👉 If you do only one thing: use Handshake first — it will likely outperform Idealist for student talent.

    1. Top Universities with Strong Relevant Programs

These are universities where students are very aligned with your needs (instructional design, public health, education tech).

    Instructional Design / eLearning Programs

    • University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
    • Arizona State University
    • Florida State University
    • Indiana University Bloomington

    👉 Look for pages like:

“Instructional Design Careers” or “Student Opportunities”

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

Public Health & Health Education (Very Valuable for HHP)

    • Johns Hopkins University
    • University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
    • London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
    • University of California Berkeley

👉 These students already understand health literacy, which is a huge advantage.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

UK / Europe (Strong + Very Open to Remote Volunteering)

    • University College London
    • University of Edinburgh
    • University of Manchester

👉 UK schools are very responsive to nonprofit collaboration emails.

    1. Where Exactly to Post Inside Universities

This is the part most people miss.

Don’t just look for “job boards” — target these specific pages:

    1. Career Services Portals

    Search:

    • “[University name] + student jobs portal”
    • “[University name] + career center employers”

    Example:

“ASU career center employer post job”

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

    1. Program-Specific Boards (Higher Conversion)

    Look for:

    • Instructional Design departments
    • Public Health schools
    • Education technology programs

    These often have:

    • internal newsletters
    • Slack groups
    • faculty mailing lists

👉 These convert better than general job boards

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

    1. Student Organizations

    Especially:

    • Public health clubs
    • MedEd groups
    • EdTech societies

Students in these groups are very mission-driven.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

    1. A High-Performing Shortcut (Very Important)

    Instead of only posting…

👉 Email professors or program coordinators directly.

    Example:

“We’re offering real-world health education video projects that students can include in their portfolios.”

This works extremely well at places like:

    • Arizona State University
    • University College London

    You can get:

    • entire classes contributing
    • capstone projects
    • long-term partnerships

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

    1. Bonus: Niche Student Job Boards

    These are smaller but targeted:

    • WayUp
    • Chegg Internships

    Good for:

    • internships
    • early-career volunteers

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

What I Recommend You Do (Simple Plan)

If you want fast results, do this:

    This week:

    1. Post on Handshake
    2. Email 10 instructional design programs
    3. Email 10 public health programs

    Next week:

    1. Follow up with professors
    2. Offer “portfolio-based projects”

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

    Key Insight

    Students don’t respond well to:

    ❌ “Volunteer role”

    They respond to:

    ✅ “Portfolio-building real-world project”

    ✅ “Published educational content”

    ✅ “Global health impact”

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

If you want, I can next:

    • write a ready-to-send email to professors
    • give you a list of 30 specific university contacts
    • or create a Handshake job post that converts well
