Description
Volunteers serving at the North Port Emergency Care Center will serve Reception, Service delivery and Transport duties.Stationed in the front lobby, volunteers will greet patients, referring patients to the department of requested service.Additionally, volunteers will assist in making file folders, help put away medical equipment orders,transport patients to various departments in the facility, and provide wheelchair transport to the front entrance to patients being discharged. All questions on medical condition, symptoms, or assessment should be referred to the medical staff. No medical advice is to be given out.
Duties
- The volunteer will greet individuals coming into the facility, providing direction, if needed escort/transport assistance and enter patients name in Patient Tracker (Jellyfish).All patients and visitors should be greeted warmly with eye contact and asked how they may be assisted.
- Volunteers should refer all individuals for care in the ECC directly to that department. All questions on medical condition, symptoms, or assessment should be referred to the staff.
- Volunteers may assist with transporting patients by wheelchair to departments within the facility.
- Stack blankets in blanketwarmer
- Inform ECC staff if trash cans or rooms need housekeeping service
- Run errands to other departments such as lab specimen to the lab
- Straighten waiting room magazines
- When requested, assist with patient transportation within the hospital
- When requested, take patients to vehicle or lobby via wheelchair
- Assist patients in placing telephone calls
- Assist with copying and keeping clipboards organized
- Distribute mail
- Assist in answering phones
- No cell phones or reading magazines at front desk
- No drinks in the front registration area. Please keep in spill proof cup in breakroom or scan room
- Cleaning lobby chairs and keeping magazines and newspapers tidy
