SEO Specialist – Volunteer (unpaid)

Reports to: SEO & Analytics Manager

Hours: ~5 hours per week

Location: Remote

Role Summary

Deliverance Charities is seeking an SEO Specialist to help increase our online visibility so more people can discover our programs, success stories, and community impact. This role focuses on making our website easier to find on search engines, helping us attract donors, volunteers, supporters, and individuals who may benefit from our services.

This is a perfect role for someone who enjoys research, analyzing data, and improving website performance—no advanced technical experience required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Keyword Research
2. Identify keywords related to our programs (transitional housing, empowerment events, domestic violence support, storytelling projects, etc.) and recommend which ones we should target on our website.
3. On-Page Optimization
4. Optimize website pages, story articles, and blogs with the correct keywords, headings, and meta descriptions.
5. Content Support
6. Work with writers and content creators to ensure blog posts, story episodes, and program pages are optimized before publishing.
7. SEO Audits
8. Conduct simple monthly audits of the website using beginner-friendly tools (like Google Search Console or Ubersuggest) to spot issues and opportunities.
9. Improve Website User Experience
10. Suggest improvements to site structure, navigation, and page speed to help users find what they need quickly.
11. Monitor Rankings & Traffic
12. Track how our content is performing on Google and report monthly improvements.
13. Support Fundraising Visibility
14. Ensure pages like events, merchandise, book releases, and sponsorship opportunities are easy to find through search.

Skills Needed (Beginner Friendly)

• Basic understanding of how search engines work
• Willingness to learn SEO tools (training provided if needed)
• Good communication and writing clarity
• Attention to detail and data-oriented thinking

• Website CMS (Squarespace)

Work Environment: Our team is collaborative and supportive, using tools Google Gmail, Chat and Space to stay connected and work efficiently.

Self-determined schedule

At least 5 hours a week, anything more is appreciated

Monthly updates and check-ins submitted via email or chat.
