    Northside Food Pantry Advisors

Volunteer | Part-Time/Remote | Reports to the Board of Directors

    About Us

Northside Food Pantry Advisors exists to make sure our neighbors have access to sustainable and healthy food with dignity. We work alongside local partners, volunteers, and community members to strengthen food support systems and respond to real needs in real time. We believe strong relationships build strong communities.

    The Role

We are looking for a passionate, relationship-driven Volunteer Director of Development to help us grow the resources that sustain our work. This is not just a fundraising role — it’s a community-building role.

The Director of Development will help tell our story, invite others into the mission, and build the relationships that keep our pantry work thriving. This person will take the lead on grant writing, donor relationships, and major gifts while partnering closely with our Board to ensure long-term sustainability.

    What You’ll Do

Build Relationships That Fuel the Mission

    • Cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, community partners, and supporters
    • Personally steward and thank donors
    • Identify and connect with individuals who care deeply about food access
    • Help board members feel confident and engaged in fundraising efforts

    Lead Our Grant Efforts

    • Research and apply for foundation, corporate, and community grants
    • Write compelling proposals that reflect the heart and impact of our work
    • Track deadlines and ensure timely reporting
    • Maintain organized records of submissions and outcomes

    Grow Major Gifts

    • Identify potential major donors within our community
    • Create thoughtful, individualized engagement plans
    • Invite supporters to deepen their commitment to food security
    • Work alongside board members on introductions and relationship-building

    Partner with the Board

    • Provide regular, clear updates on fundraising progress
    • Help set realistic and ambitious annual fundraising goals
    • Collaborate on strategy and new funding opportunities

    Who You Are

    • A strong writer who can clearly and passionately communicate impact
    • A relationship builder who enjoys connecting with people
    • Organized and self-directed
    • Comfortable asking others to invest in meaningful work
    • Experienced in fundraising, development, or grant writing (preferred but not required)
    • Deeply aligned with our mission to fight food insecurity

    Time Commitment

Flexible, approximately 5 hours per week, with additional time during grant deadlines or campaign periods.

    Why This Role Matters

Food insecurity is not abstract — it affects our neighbors, friends, and families. Sustainable funding allows us to show up consistently and reliably for our community. The Volunteer Director of Development plays a critical role in ensuring that Northside Food Pantry Advisors can continue this work and grow its impact.
