    FITNP2, INC is a dynamic nonprofit dedicated to empowering women veterans, strengthening families, and uplifting communities through innovative programs, compassionate support, and inclusive service. Our work also includes a vibrant children’s program, Friendship Is The New Cool, which focuses on discouraging bullying, building confidence, and introducing youth to STEM/STEAM activities through hands‑on learning and positive social engagement.

    As we strengthen our governance structure, we are seeking an attorney to join our Board of Directors and support our continued growth, compliance, and long‑term sustainability.

    Position Overview

    FITNP2, INC is seeking a licensed attorney to serve as a Working Board Member. This individual will provide legal insight, governance support, and compliance guidance to ensure the organization operates with integrity and in alignment with Texas nonprofit laws and federal regulations.

    The attorney does not need to reside in Texas, but must be able and willing to research and interpret Texas nonprofit law as part of their governance responsibilities.

    This role is ideal for an attorney who is passionate about community impact, enjoys hands‑on board engagement, and is committed to strengthening nonprofit governance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide legal guidance on governance, compliance, and organizational policies.

    Review and support the development of governance documents in accordance with Texas state law and grant requirements.

    Advise the Board on risk management, contracts, and regulatory obligations.

    Assist with reviewing bylaws, policies, agreements, and organizational procedures.

    Support ethical decision‑making and ensure adherence to fiduciary duties.

    Participate actively in board meetings and strategic planning.

    Qualifications

    Licensed attorney in good standing (any U.S. state).

    Experience in one or more of the following areas, or the ability to research and interpret applicable law if direct experience is not present:

    • Nonprofit law
    • Governance and compliance
    • Contracts and agreements
    • Employment law
    • Risk management
    • Grant compliance
    • Strong communication and analytical skills.
    • Ability to commit time for meetings, policy review, and board responsibilities.
    • Passion for serving women veterans, children, and underserved communities.

    Time Commitment

    Monthly board meetings (virtual or hybrid).

    Participation in at least one committee.

    Estimated 3–5 hours per month, including policy review and board tasks.
