    Description

    Why this role matters

The Woo Cycle book is a key part of how Period Reality expands menstrual and body literacy beyond adults to young readers and families. This book will help children understand their bodies, cycles and change in a respectful, age-appropriate way, breaking taboos and opening space for honest conversation.

We're looking for someone who can help bring The Woo Cycle to life online. From creating engaging content and building conversations to growing our social media presence, you'll help us reach families, caregivers, educators and communities who can benefit from the book and its message.

    What you'll do

    • Develop and manage The Woo Cycle's social media presence across Instagram, LinkedIn and other relevant platforms.
    • Create engaging content that brings the book, its characters, stories and messages to life online.
    • Develop content ideas that speak to parents, caregivers, educators and families.
    • Write compelling captions and adapt content for different platforms and audiences.
    • Create content around the book's launch, sales, events, merchandise, fundraising and wider campaigns.
    • Build and maintain a consistent social media content calendar.
    • Schedule and publish content regularly across The Woo Cycle's social platforms.
    • Engage with our community by responding to comments, messages and conversations.
    • Identify relevant creators, educators, parenting communities and organisations that could help expand the book's reach.
    • Monitor social media trends and identify creative opportunities to increase awareness and engagement.
    • Track social media performance and use insights to improve content and audience growth.
    • Collaborate with the Book Strategist, Graphic Designers, Video Editors and wider book team to develop and deliver content.
    • Ensure all content is age-appropriate, accessible, sensitive and aligned with The Woo Cycle and Period Reality's values.
    • Help grow an engaged online community around The Woo Cycle and its wider mission.

    What we're looking for

    • Experience managing social media accounts.
    • Strong copywriting skills and the ability to create engaging, relatable content.
    • Good understanding of social media platforms, particularly Instagram and LinkedIn.
    • An interest in children's books, education, body literacy, menstrual health or related areas.
    • Someone who understands how to create content that speaks to parents, caregivers and educators.
    • Creative, curious and comfortable coming up with new content ideas.
    • Confident engaging with online communities and building meaningful conversations.
    • Organised and able to manage a content calendar and multiple deadlines.
    • Comfortable using social media insights and engagement data to understand what is working.
    • Proactive, self-driven and able to take ownership of the book's social media presence.
    • Able to work collaboratively with a creative team while also working independently.
    • Passionate about helping make body literacy accessible to children and families.
    • Able to commit time consistently and contribute reliably as part of a remote volunteer team.

    What you'll gain

    • Hands-on experience growing the social media presence of a purpose-driven children's book.
    • Experience creating content for families, caregivers and educators around body literacy and children's wellbeing.
    • The opportunity to help shape the digital identity and growth of The Woo Cycle.
    • Practical experience in social media strategy, content creation, community engagement and digital storytelling.
    • The opportunity to work alongside writers, designers, storytellers and other creative volunteers.
    • Opportunities to connect with people and organisations working across children's education, publishing, parenting, health and social impact.
    • A chance to contribute to a project helping families have more confident and positive conversations about bodies and growing up.
    • The opportunity to help take The Woo Cycle's message to families and communities beyond the book itself.

    Please Note

Period Reality is a volunteer-led charity and this is a fully unpaid volunteer role. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to share their time, skills and experience to help us create meaningful impact.
