    Description

Entertainment for Change (EFC) - Board Member (Voluntary)

    Website: www.entertainmentforchange.org

    About Entertainment for Change

Entertainment for Change (EFC) is a not-for-profit social enterprise working at the intersection of film, philanthropy and social impact. We partner with filmmakers, philanthropists and community organisations to embed impact pathways into mainstream scripted entertainment — turning powerful stories into real-world change.

As EFC enters its next phase of growth, the Board has agreed to focus its impact on domestic and family violence (including coercive control), recognising the scale, urgency and persistent failure of current responses. Through cultural storytelling and philanthropic mobilisation, EFC seeks to shift attitudes, behaviours and systems at scale.

    About the Role

EFC is seeking to appoint additional Non-Executive Board Members to strengthen the Board’s collective capability and support the organisation’s next stage of growth.

Board Members play a critical role in:

    • Setting strategic direction
    • Supporting fundraising and partnerships
    • Ensuring strong governance and mission integrity
    • Acting as ambassadors for EFC within their networks

This is a voluntary position, with reasonable out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed.

    Priority Skills & Experience

The Board is particularly seeking candidates with one or more of the following backgrounds:

    Film & Entertainment Sector Experience

    • Feature film, scripted television, production or studio experience
    • Film financing, distribution, or development expertise
    • Strong networks within the Australian or international screen industry

Domestic & Family Violence / Coercive Control Expertise

    • Senior experience in DFV prevention, response or advocacy
    • Lived-experience-informed practice, policy or systems reform
    • Understanding of trauma-informed, survivor-centred approaches

Fundraising, Philanthropy & Business Development (Desirable)

    • Major donor or philanthropic engagement
    • Trusts & foundations experience
    • Revenue generation, partnerships or sponsorships

    What We’re Looking For

We are looking for Board members who:

    • Are deeply aligned with EFC’s mission and values
    • Bring strategic thinking and sound judgement
    • Are willing to actively contribute time, insight and networks
    • Understand the power of culture and storytelling in driving change

Prior Board experience is welcomed but not essential.

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately 6–8 Board meetings per year
    • Participation in at least one subcommittee or working group
    • Occasional involvement in events, strategy sessions or partner engagement

    Why Join EFC?

    • Be part of an innovative, nationally significant social enterprise
    • Help shape a new model for addressing domestic and family violence
    • Work alongside leaders in film, philanthropy and social impact
    • Contribute to long-term systems and cultural change
