    Description

    Day Room Monitor

    Initiative: Beyond the Basics

    Impact area: Basic needs (food, clothing, housing)

    Location(s): Bristol, CT

    Hours: Mon.-Sat., 7:00am-12:30pm

    Desired level of commitment: Twice per month

    Duration: Year-round

    Age requirement: 18+

    Tasks may include:

    * Monitoring a "day room" (community room) at a basic needs program

    * Enforcing rules

    * Setting up the "help yourself table"

    * Serving 45 people or less

    * Sanitizing tables between clients

    * Offering assistance

    * Developing relationships

    * Encouraging

    * Listening

    * Providing prayer

    * Maintaining a safe judgement-free environment

    * Cleaning at the end of the shift

    * Breaking down

    In order to volunteer, you should be:

    * A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)

    * Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering

    * Willing to submit a background check

    * Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule

    * Reliable

    * Patient

    * Honest

    * Personable

    * Open-minded

    * Respectful
