    One Good Deed Dementia Support

    Description

    Apply to become a One Good Deed Dementia Support volunteers and bring meaningful companionship to an isolated older adult while providing support to caregivers of those with dementia.

    Eligibility & Training

    • Ages: 20+
    • No experience is required, but volunteers must participate in an in-person training in Dunwoody to learn strategies for engaging the senior during visits, including music therapy techniques.

    Purpose

    One Good Deed Dementia Support volunteers bring meaningful companionship to older adults living with dementia, offering social engagement while helping their caregiver rest, recharge, or attend to their own needs. This is a rewarding experience that requires no previous experience, only a desire to make a difference.

    Role

    Connect with your matched older adult through simple, meaningful activities like chatting over coffee, playing games, listening to music or music therapy, taking a short walk, or simply holding hands. Commitment:

    • Schedule 2-hour long visits, twice a month
    • Quarterly in-person programs with your match in Dunwoody Monthly virtual peer support meetings

    Location: In the community. Volunteers visit their older adult match in their home.
