    Description

    Technology Access Trainer

    Technology Access Program (TAP) volunteers help bridge the tech divide for older adults and people with disabilities. They enable participants to stay connected with loved ones, communicate with healthcare providers, apply for services, and more. In addition, TAP promotes affordability and accessibility among residents from diverse backgrounds and supports their ability to live independently in the community.

    Calling all bilingual volunteers! Spanish speakers are especially needed, but we welcome all languages, your skills help make our programs more inclusive and accessible.

    Roles may include:

    • Participate in Community Events
    • Support consumers in meeting their desired goals in group settings during community events such as tech cafes and Internet enrollment events
    • Act as a Teaching Assistant at various TAP guided courses
    • Create Reference Materials for the Technology Access Program
    • TAP Trainers may create informational materials for TAP, including fact sheets and how-to guides.

    Qualifications:

    • General knowledge of tech devices and operating systems (Mac, Android, Windows)
    • Accuracy in maintaining documentation
    • A commitment to confidentiality
    • Patience and tactfulness
    • Previous experience with elders and people with disabilities helpful
    • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of individuals, including people with significant physical and mental impairments and varying socioeconomic backgrounds
    • Ability to travel to senior centers (or other community venue) and/or MVES office

    Time Commitment: Approximately 1-2 hours per week, 1-4 times per month
