Safe Tonight — Women’s and Children’s Shelter - Volunteer Housekeeping & Cleaning Assistant

Position Summary

Safe Tonight is seeking dependable volunteers to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shelter environment for women, children, staff, and visitors. Volunteers will assist with routine housekeeping and cleaning tasks to support the comfort and well-being of shelter residents.

Responsibilities

• • Wipe down tables and frequently used surfaces.
  • Vacuum/sweep floors and carpeted areas.
  • Empty garbage and replace liners.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
  • Dust light fixtures and designated areas.
  • Help maintain a sanitary, comfortable, and welcoming environment.
  • Report maintenance, safety, or cleaning concerns to shelter staff.

Time Commitment: 7 days a week, 3 hours per shift.

• • Volunteers may select available shifts based on their availability and shelter needs.

Qualifications

• • Dependable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Comfortable performing routine housekeeping tasks. Able to follow cleaning instructions and work independently.
  • Respectful of residents’ privacy, dignity, and personal belongings.
  • Committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for women and children.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift light cleaning supplies, and perform routine cleaning activities for the duration of the shift.
