    Position description

    The Website Specialist helps maintain and enhance the Women in Science PDX website, ensuring it remains accurate, accessible, and visually engaging. Working primarily in Squarespace, you'll manage the organization's web presence by maintaining website pages, creating event listings, organizing website content, and continually improving the overall user experience. This role is ideal for someone interested in website management, user experience, and nonprofit communications.

    Key Position Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain the overall WIS PDX website strategy.
    • Manage and maintain the WIS PDX website using Squarespace.
    • Publish and update general website content, including event pages, organizational information, and other non-editorial content.
    • Collaborate with the Field Notes Editor to support the Field Notes journal and maintain its integration with the WIS PDX website.
    • Review the website regularly for usability, accessibility, SEO, broken links, outdated content, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to website organization, navigation, templates, and user experience.
    • Coordinate website support for organizational initiatives, campaigns, and communications priorities.
    • Attend monthly Communications Committee meetings.

    Ideal Experience

    We're looking for someone who enjoys organizing information and creating user-friendly online experiences. Helpful experience includes:

    • Squarespace or other website content management systems
    • Basic understanding of web design and user experience
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Interest in digital communications or nonprofit websites

    Professional web design or coding experience is not required. We'll provide guidance and support as you become familiar with our website and workflows.
