    Description

    Animal Science Education Volunteer

Things That Creep needs volunteers to assist with introducing members of the public (of all ages!) to our reptile, amphibian and invertebrate animal ambassadors at our monthly open house and community events.

Volunteers work alongside experienced educators and animal handlers. Volunteers are required to complete a hands-on training course where they will meet our animal ambassadors, learn more about the species we work with, and learn proper animal handling techniques.

Education Volunteers must be comfortable speaking with members of the public (especially children and young adults), handling a wide range of reptiles and amphibians (and maybe even cockroaches), spending periods of time standing or kneeling during events, be calm under pressure, and be able to safely handle animals in a sometimes chaotic and unpredictable environment. A good sense of humor is also appreciated!

Join our bi-annual volunteer educator training in May.
