POSITION SUMMARY
H.AAPI is seeking a Communications Operations Coordinator to support the organization’s mission-driven programs and initiatives. This role is designed for an individual who is passionate about community impact, collaboration, and operational excellence.
In this role, you will ensure the timely planning, coordination, and execution of the organization's digital communications. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position is responsible for scheduling and managing social media content, coordinating email marketing campaigns, maintaining communications calendars, and supporting the implementation of organizational messaging across multiple platforms. You will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure initiatives are executed effectively, align with organizational goals, and serve the AAPI community.
This is a volunteer, unpaid position and not a full-time employment role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and schedule content across the organization's social media platforms in accordance with the communications calendar and branding guidelines.
- Create, format, schedule, and distribute email marketing campaigns using the organization's email marketing platform.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications to implement communication strategies that support organizational goals, programs, fundraising, and community engagement.
- Work closely with the Programs Team to coordinate and schedule communications promoting programs, events, workshops, and other organizational initiatives.
- Maintain and update the communications calendar to ensure timely and consistent messaging across digital platforms.
- Proofread and edit communications materials for accuracy, grammar, consistency, and brand standards.
- Assist in developing engaging content for social media, email newsletters, website updates, and other digital communications.
- Monitor scheduled communications to ensure content is published accurately and on time.
- Respond to routine communication-related inquiries and provide administrative support to the Communications Department as assigned.
- Assist with special projects, events, and organizational campaigns as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote, volunteer-based environment
- Passion for H.AAPI’s mission and community impact
- Comfort using basic digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Teams, with willingness to learn new systems
- Reliable access to a laptop and stable internet connection
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a nonprofit environment
- Ability and willingness to travel within NYC for program support with advance notice
Preferred
- Experience in program coordination, nonprofit work, or startup environments
- Experience working in team-based or community-focused settings
- At least 6 months of experience in communications
- Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Canva, Mailchimp, Airtable, Slack, or similar platforms
- Experience working with volunteers, programs, or community-based initiatives
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Education, Social Work, Communications, or a related field preferred but not required.
