    Description

    Change a Child's Story

A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer is an integral factor in a child's life in foster care. Children in foster care who have a CASA volunteer spend an average of 8 months less in foster care. You can make that difference happen with just a little bit of your time each month. Alcovy CASA serves children from Newton and Walton Counties in Georgia.

Our CASA Volunteers do the following activities:

    • Visit their assigned foster child(ren) a minimum of once a month.
    • Communicate with people in the foster child's life to ensure the child is receiving appropriate support.
    • Write recommendations for court hearings, usually held approximately every three-six months.
    • Attend the court hearings, if possible, to support their foster child.

There are plenty of children that need you in Newton and Walton Counties!

All volunteers must complete a 40 hour training course, including classroom training and courtroom observation. Classes are held two to three times a year in person at our office in Covington.
