Description
Make a difference in a child’s life—one hour at a time!
The Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) is seeking caring, dependable volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to serve as Youth Mentors for children ages 5–12. Youth Mentors play an important role in helping young people build confidence, develop positive relationships, and feel connected and supported.
As a Youth Mentor, you will be paired with a child and spend time together participating in fun, age-appropriate activities. Whether you are playing a game, working on homework, creating something, talking, or simply being a positive presence, your time and attention can make a lasting impact.
What You'll Do

- Spend time with youth through games, activities, conversation, reading, homework help, and other interests.
- Encourage your mentee and help build their confidence and self-esteem.
- Be a positive role model and supportive adult or peer.
- Help your mentee develop positive social skills, kindness, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Listen to your mentee and provide encouragement and support.
- Communicate consistently with AYCC staff regarding your mentoring experience and your mentee’s needs.
