Cake Baking Volunteer Guidelines
We are looking for individuals to provide homemade cakes to our hospice patients for a variety of occasions. Birthdays, Weddings, Anniverseraies or just because. Homemade cakes have provide a special experience for our patients as it shows someone is thinking of them, and they are loved. Even if your homemade cake comes from a box and has simple icing, the knowledge that someone went out of their way to make our patient's day extra special goes so far. Below are guidelines to help our bakers understand our process. If you are interested in being a part of our baking team, please reach out.
Volunteer baker specific guidelines
- Cakes should be delivered before 9am on the date requested to our offices in Bala Cynwyd, PA
- NO Nuts due to allergy concerns
- Do not put happy birthday on the cake unless we can remove it. i.e.: no frosting writing. Occasionally a patient will die on their birthdays and we will want to remove the HB and the deliver the cake as a "celebration of life cake." Since a lot people are usually coming and going during this time.
- Cake should be delivered on a cardboard cake round, inside a disposable cardboard box.
- Note these items are readily available at craft stores such as Michaels and Joann Fabrics as well as Party stores such as Party City or can be ordered on-line via amazon or the webstaurant store.
