Dog Adoption Event Volunteer - PetSmart Lee's Summit
Details
Description
Heart of America Humane Society hosts a Cat and Dog Adoption Event most Saturdays at PetSmart Lee’s Summit (920 NE Sam Walton Lane) from 11 am to 2 pm. The event is open to the public during those hours. An animal control officer from Lee's Summit Animal shelter transports the dogs from the shelter to PetSmart. While the dogs are being transported, there are volunteers setting up the adoption event at PetSmart, which involves setting up tables, kennels, and supplies used during the event. We would like everyone volunteering for the event to arrive around 10:45 am to assist with unloading the dogs when they arrive. Then during the event, you will work with a dog. Get to know them, train them on basic commands, spoil them rotten, and talk with prospective adopters about your dog. At the end of the event, those dogs that were not adopted are transported back to the shelter and we ask that the volunteers assist in taking down the tables, kennels, etc.
The first Saturday that you volunteer we ask that you come 30-45 minutes early to fill out paperwork and have a short training/orientation. We look forward to hearing from you.
We welcome everyone, but if you are under 18 you must be accompanied by a parent.
