Mental Health Professionals: Turn your Passion into Action! (License Required) - Bingham County

Experiencing a natural disaster or other emergency (such as a home fire) can be intensely stressful. Even when the immediate danger has passed, the impact can still be felt. As a licensed mental health professional, you can provide compassionate support to individuals and families as they navigate the aftermath of a disaster.

Disaster Mental Health volunteers play a crucial role in alleviating disaster-related stress and trauma by providing essential mental health support, including:

    • Emotional Support: Address immediate emotional needs and offer compassionate support to disaster-impacted individuals.
    • Coping and Resilience: Educate clients on coping strategies and resilience-building techniques.
    • Resource Connection: Facilitate access to local mental health resources and services.
    • Community Outreach: Collaborate with local mental health agencies to strengthen community resilience.
    • Education and Training: Provide ongoing education and support to disaster responders and the community on emotional responses to disasters.

    Commitment and Qualifications:

    • Requirements: Must hold a master’s degree and a current, unencumbered mental health license.
    • Time Commitment: Flexible and variable based on disaster response needs. Options to volunteer virtually and/or provide in-person support.
    • Training: Comprehensive training is provided to prepare you for this vital role.
