    Description

    Sea Scout Leaders Needed

    A Sea Scout Leader mentors youth (ages 14-20) in maritime skills, safety, and leadership within a "Ship" unit. Responsibilities include advising the youth-led "Quarterdeck" in planning meetings, cruises, and activities, ensuring Youth Protection compliance, managing vessel safety, and fostering character development.

    Key Responsibilities and Roles

    • Mentorship & Advising: The Skipper acts as the primary adult leader, coaching youth officers (Boatswain, Mates) in leadership, planning, and executing Ship operations.
    • Safety & Training: Leaders ensure strict adherence to safety protocols during meetings and on-the-water activities, including mandatory training for youth members.
    • Program Development: Facilitate the planning of activities, training sessions, and community service projects.
    • Administration: Assist youth to manage administrative duties, oversee unit finances, web based information
    • Recruitment & Advancement: Promote the advancement program and encourage youth to recruit new members.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    No prerequisite skills are needed. We have many positions and encourage you to serve where you are most comfortable.
