Position Overview

Volunteer Board Members provide strategic leadership, governance oversight, and advisory support to the organization. The Board ensures that the organization remains mission-driven, financially accountable, and impactful in its programs.

Board Members act as ambassadors of the organization and contribute their expertise to strengthen institutional growth, partnerships, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Governance and Oversight

• Provide strategic direction and guidance for the organization.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.
• Uphold the organization’s constitution, policies, and ethical standards.
• Participate in reviewing and approving organizational strategies, budgets, and policies.

Strategic Leadership

• Contribute to long-term planning and sustainability of the organization.
• Support the development of innovative programs and initiatives.
• Provide professional expertise in relevant fields such as sustainability, finance, governance, youth development, or entrepreneurship.

Financial Stewardship

• Review financial reports and ensure responsible financial management.
• Support resource mobilization and fundraising efforts.
• Assist in identifying potential donors, partners, and funding opportunities.

Advocacy and Representation

• Serve as an ambassador for the organization within professional and community networks.
• Promote the mission and visibility of the organization.
• Facilitate partnerships with institutions, governments, private sector, and civil society.

Board Participation

• Attend and actively participate in board meetings (typically quarterly).
• Serve on committees or working groups where relevant.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to the executive leadership team when needed.

Qualifications and Experience

Time Commitment

• Approximately 4–6 board meetings per year
• Occasional participation in strategic discussions, committee meetings, or events
• Estimated 4–8 hours per month
