    🌟 Girl Scout Co-Leader Job Description

    Position Title: Troop Co-Leader

    Reports To: Service Unit Manager

    Volunteer Position

    Position Summary

    The Co-Leaders partner together to plan and deliver a high-quality Girl Scout experience. This role shares leadership, supports troop operations, and helps ensure that meetings and activities are safe, girl-led, and aligned with the Girl Scouts mission.

    Key Responsibilities

    🌿 Support Troop Leadership

    • Assist in planning meeting agendas, activities, outings, and badge work.
    • Serve as a role model who builds girls’ courage, confidence, and character.
    • Encourage girl-led decision making appropriate to developmental level.

    🧭 Ensure Safety & Compliance

    • Complete required onboarding: background check, training, and mandatory courses.
    • Follow all Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints and council guidelines.
    • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all girls.

    📚 Meeting & Activity Support

    • Co-facilitate troop meetings (typically 2-4 times per month).
    • Assist with supply prep, set-up/clean-up, and activity facilitation.
    • Attend field trips, ceremonies, and service projects as needed.
    • Communicate with families when appropriate.

    💬 Communication & Organization

    • Collaborate to share updates with families.
    • Assist with attendance tracking, permission slips, and troop paperwork.
    • Help coordinate snacks, rotations, carpools, or other logistics depending on troop needs.

    💚 Support Girl Growth & Teamwork

    • Foster an encouraging environment where every girl feels included.
    • Celebrate girls’ achievements and milestones.
    • Model the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

    Time Commitment

    • 2-4 meetings per month (1–1.5 hours each)
    • Planning/support time as agreed upon among the co-Troop Leaders
    • Participation in occasional outings or special events

    Qualifications

    • Must complete council onboarding (background check + training).
    • Enjoy working with children and supporting girl leadership.
    • Reliable, communicative, and collaborative.
    • Positive attitude and willingness to help where needed.
    • No prior Girl Scout experience required—training provided!
