Description
A Patient Visit Volunteer is a regular volunteer who conducts patient visits at the VA Medical Center delivering care and comfort items to veterans. May help veterans with tasks such as reading their mail or writing a letter for them, and may sit with patients, to keep them company or listen to a story.
- Visit patients on various units of the VA hospital on a regular basis.
- Distribute donated items (when available) to patients and/or family members (e.g. blankets, comfort kits, hygiene products).
- Work through the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) office to coordinate visits and distributions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to VA rules.
- Abide by and support the philosophy, policy, and guidelines of Soldiers’ Angels.
- Keep careful records of hours volunteered and items distributed.
