Description
The Southern Sudanese Community Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is seeking a dedicated volunteer or intern to serve as a Grant Writer. We are looking for candidates with experience in nonprofit organizations and grant writing for foundation, state, and federal funding opportunities.
Position Details
Role: Grant Writer (Volunteer/Intern)
Experience: Prior experience in nonprofit grant writing is preferred.
Hours: Flexible, based on availability.
About Us
The Southern Sudanese Community Center serves diverse refugee and low-income communities throughout San Diego County, including individuals from Sudan, South Sudan, the Congo, Somalia, Burundi, Ethiopia, and other countries.
Our programs include:
- After school tutoring for K–12 students
- Adult English (ESL) classes
- Sewing machine training
- Drug and gang prevention education
- Cultural dance programs
- Fundraising initiatives
- Youth basketball and sports programs
- Economic development services, and more
Volunteers at our center play a vital role by assisting community members with computer skills, supporting children with homework, and helping coordinate nonprofit activities.
Additional Opportunities
We welcome individuals completing court-ordered community service, CalWORKs recipients, individuals receiving public assistance, and anyone interested in strengthening their resume through meaningful community engagement.
