    Description

About The Lily Foundation & Advocates

The Lily Foundation & Advocates is a 501(c)(3) healthcare advocacy organization dedicated to improving patient navigation, caregiver support, healthcare literacy, and equitable access to community resources. Founded in 2025, our mission is to stand beside patients and families navigating fragmented healthcare systems, ensuring their dignity is preserved and their care is maximized.

As an early-stage startup, we are building community-centered programs, educational toolkits, and focus group initiatives to translate clinical complexity into actionable, compassionate guidance. We are seeking an articulate, clinically grounded Health Advocacy & Literacy Specialist to serve as our primary educational builder and public voice.

    Role Overview & Commitment

In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex medical information and patient understanding. You will work closely with leadership to design health literacy workshops, draft educational toolkits, ensure clinical accuracy across organizational resources, and represent the foundation in virtual workshops and outreach media.

    • Target Commitment: ~10 hours per week, focused on educational content creation, workshop preparation, medical accuracy reviews, and public engagement.
    • Flexible & Remote: 100% remote and asynchronous—contribute on a schedule that fits your clinical or personal routine, with periodic scheduled presentations or recordings.
    • Humanitarian Impact: Directly empower patients and caregivers with clear, accessible knowledge to navigate medical crises with confidence and dignity.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Health Literacy & Toolkit Development: Design, write, and structure accessible educational resources, navigation toolkits, and workshop materials that translate dense medical jargon into clear, actionable advice.
    • Interactive Workshop Facilitation: Host and facilitate virtual educational workshops and webinars aimed at helping patients and family caregivers understand their rights, questions for doctors, and care pathways.
    • Clinical & Content Review: Review foundation publications, advocacy toolkits, and web resources to guarantee all content is evidence-based, medically sound, and accurate.
    • Public Engagement & Advocacy Voice: Serve as a spokesperson for the foundation by participating in podcasts, virtual panels, and digital advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about health equity and literacy.
    • Focus Group Content Integration: Translate qualitative insights from community listening sessions into practical educational solutions and outreach modules.

    Essential Skills & Qualifications

    • Clinical or Public Health Background: Background in nursing, public health, health communication, patient navigation, or clinical research.
    • Public Speaking & Communication: Strong verbal presentation skills with the ability to warm a virtual room, host interactive discussions, and explain complex concepts clearly.
    • Medical Writing & Translation: Demonstrated skill in technical or educational writing, specifically converting complex health guidelines into accessible patient resources.
    • Mission Alignment: Passionate about health equity, patient self-advocacy, and relieving administrative and emotional burdens for families in crisis.

    Educational & Professional Benefits

    • Directly shape the core educational programs and public advocacy strategy for an emerging health 501(c)(3).
    • Build a public portfolio of published health literacy toolkits, hosted workshops, and advocacy media appearances.
    • Receive an executive letter of recommendation and professional reference upon successful completion of a 6-month term.
