Safe Tonight — Women’s and Children’s Shelter - Volunteer Children's Activity Coordinators

Safe Tonight is seeking multiple caring, creative, and dependable volunteers to help oversee activities in the shelter’s playroom and provide engaging, age-appropriate activities and projects for children residing at the shelter. Volunteers will work together to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where children can play, learn, and express themselves.

Responsibilities

• • Oversee activities in the playroom during assigned volunteer shifts.
  • Create and facilitate age-appropriate crafts, games, educational activities, and projects.
  • Collaborate with other volunteers to plan and organize engaging activities.
  • Encourage creativity, learning, cooperation, and positive social interaction.
  • Organize and maintain playroom materials and supplies.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Adapt activities to accommodate different ages, interests, and abilities.
  • Follow shelter policies and report safety or behavioral concerns to shelter staff.

Qualifications

• • Enjoy working with children and creating engaging activities.
  • Patient, compassionate, creative, and dependable.
  • Able to work cooperatively with other volunteers and shelter staff.
  • Comfortable maintaining appropriate boundaries and respecting children’s privacy.
  • Prior experience working with children, education, recreation, or childcare is helpful but not required.
