    About Us

The Fresh Well Initiative is a Florida-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to provide sustainable access to clean drinking water in underserved communities in Haiti. We focus on well and water system construction and maintenance. We are a young organization building our board, our compliance and financial reporting, and our fundraising foundations, and we are looking for people who want to help shape what comes next.

    About the Role

We are seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer to help secure funding for our work. You will research grant opportunities, draft and submit applications, and help build the grant calendar and tracking system the organization will rely on for years to come. Our current funding targets include well construction, labor, operations and administrative support, and volunteer recruitment.

You will work closely with our Founder and Executive Director. This role is a chance to bring your experience into a team that values clarity, warmth, and accuracy.

    Responsibilities

    • Research and identify foundation, government, and corporate grant opportunities aligned with clean water, international development, and Haiti-focused work
    • Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and final reports
    • Adapt our master application template to each funder’s requirements
    • Maintain a grant calendar with deadlines, requirements, and reporting obligations
    • Coordinate with board members on narrative, budget, and supporting materials
    • Help track funder relationships and follow-up after submissions

    Qualifications

    • Prior grant writing experience, paid or volunteer
    • Strong written communication and attention to detail
    • Comfort working with budgets and program narratives
    • Organization and the ability to meet deadlines independently
    • Experience with nonprofits, international development, or water and sanitation is a plus

    What You Will Gain

    • Hands-on experience in grant development for a growing international nonprofit
    • Mentorship from a team committed to transparency and sustainable impact
    • A portfolio of grant work and a documented contribution to a clean water mission
    • Flexible, remote-friendly volunteer hours
