    Description

“Coach a Reader. Change the Game. ⚾📖"

    Love reading? Love baseball?

We’re putting them on the same field. ⚾📖

Do you believe that improved reading skills can change a student’s trajectory in academic success? Yes, it can. In just five weeks, watch hesitant readers transform into confident, expressive storytellers. Not by worksheets… but by stepping inside the story.

    And here’s the twist:

    the secret sauce is YOU.

    Don’t just tutor.

Be a Literacy Coach with United Voices of Literacy, Inc.

Our Readers Are Leaders program blends one-on-one tutoring with reader’s theater—turning reading into something students feel, perform, and believe in. You’ll be trained, supported, and paired with a student who needs exactly what you bring.

And yes—there’s a little magic waiting at the finish line…

Our students will take the stage at a live reading event in Culver City, alongside special guests—including former LA Dodgers players. You won’t just watch the transformation… you’ll help create it.

    Who we serve:

Students in grades 3–7 across Los Angeles, reading below grade level—but full of untapped voice and imagination.

    What you’ll do:

      • Guide one student through engaging, script-based reading
      • Build confidence, fluency, and joy in reading
      • Help prepare them for a live performance experience
      • Work alongside various professionals, actors and college students

    Time commitment:

1 hour, twice a week (virtual)

    We’ll prepare you:

Training and orientation included—no teaching background required, just heart.

    Requirements:

Fingerprinting + DOJ background check (covered by us)

Come be the reason a student finds their voice.

    Come be the spark.
