    Description

    The English Language Center (TELC) at LaGuardia Community College is seeking dedicated volunteers to support adult English language learners through our tutoring programs.

    Our students are highly motivated immigrant learners working to improve their English for work, education, and daily life. Volunteers play a key role in helping them build confidence, practice communication, and feel part of a supportive community.

    You will be working with small groups or paired with students in a structured and welcoming environment.

    Please note the following before applying:

    • Volunteers are expected to attend one session per week during the program (April 22–May 28).
    • Writing Partners requires a consistent weekly commitment.
    • Conversation Practice offers more flexibility but regular attendance is encouraged.
    • No prior ESL teaching experience is required, but volunteers should be patient, clear in communication, and supportive of English learners.

    After submitting your application, selected volunteers will be contacted with next steps, including a brief orientation and scheduling details.
