Hospice Volunteers Wanted

Looking to make a difference in your community? We are searching for compassionate volunteers to serve as companions to hospice patients in Colonial Heights, Petersburg, and the surrounding areas.

Not sure about hospice? Here are some common questions we receive:

“What if I have no medical experience?” Our volunteers do not provide medical care to patients, so there is no experience required: just bring a kind heart, and a willingness to learn. We will provide all training and onboarding necessary for the role.

“I’m pretty busy. What if I don’t have a lot of time to spare?” If you have just an hour to offer every two weeks, you are perfectly able to join us (though you can certainly do more time, if desired). Our program is flexible and understanding.

“Isn’t hospice a lot to handle emotionally?” While hospice work can feel heavy at times, the work is so very rewarding. Hospice is more than just taking care of a patient; it’s helping the family, too. Your work as a hospice volunteer can help alleviate some of the strain our patient families face.

“What if I am not comfortable sitting with patients?” No problem. Providing clerical assistance or crafting blankets/gifts are some common ways to get involved. Whether you volunteer directly with patients or from afar, our goal is to show our patients we care.
