Shreveport Green is currently looking for volunteers to help with the development of the Urban Farm in downtown Shreveport. With the help of the City of Shreveport, Community Development and Hud, the farm is located on nearly 3 acres. Through transformation It will become a hub for fruit & vegetable production for downtown Shreveport.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Shreveport Green Urban Farm!
Our volunteers help us grow fresh food, beautify the farm, care for our orchard and gardens, and create a welcoming community space. Volunteer activities may include planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting, clearing garden areas, maintaining pathways, assembling growing structures, landscaping, and assisting with special events.
Regular Volunteer Opportunities:
- Tuesdays from 8:30–10:30 a.m.
- Occasional Saturday and other weekday mornings
- Additional group and special-event opportunities may be available throughout the year.
Before Volunteering:
- Submit your interest through Idealist and indicate your preferred date.
- Let us know whether you are volunteering individually or with a group.
- Groups should provide an estimated number of participants and the ages of any youth volunteers.
- Please wait for confirmation before arriving, as schedules may change because of weather, farm conditions, or special programming.
What to Wear and Bring:
- Wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty.
- Closed-toe shoes are required.
- Dress appropriately for outdoor weather.
- Bring a reusable water bottle.
- Gardening gloves, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat are recommended. We have gardening gloves, as well.
- Volunteers may be asked to complete a waiver before participating.
No gardening experience is required. Instructions, tools, and guidance will be provided. Volunteers should be prepared for outdoor activity, which may include bending, lifting, standing, and working in warm or cool weather. Tasks can often be adjusted based on individual ability.
We welcome individuals, families, schools, businesses, civic organizations, faith communities, and other groups. Youth volunteers must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult unless other arrangements have been approved in advance.
