    Description

Volunteer to teacher English/ Citizenship/ Computer classes

Welcome to Project Light of Manatee!

Project Light Language School is proud to offer welcoming, face-to-face English classes for adult learners in our beautifully remodeled school building in Bradenton. Our classrooms provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive learning environment where students and volunteers feel respected, valued, and at home.

Project Light is a nonprofit Adult English Language School located at 1104 14th Street West, Bradenton. We serve adult immigrants and community members who are working to improve their English for work, education, citizenship, and everyday life.

We warmly welcome volunteers to join our teaching team. Most instructors teach one or two classes per week (3–6 hours) during the Fall or Spring semester. The school is closed during the summer, and the minimum weekly commitment is just three hours—making it easy to give back while balancing other responsibilities.

Our classes are small and supportive, with 8 to 18 students per group. No previous teaching experience is required—though it is always appreciated. We provide training, materials, textbooks, and ongoing support, so you will never feel unprepared. Training is offered both in groups and individually, and help is always available when needed.

Project Light uses professionally developed ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) curricula, and student progress is monitored through regular assessments. In addition to English classes, we offer Citizenship and Computer Literacy courses to help students gain the skills they need to succeed in today’s world.

Many retired teachers and community volunteers tell us that teaching at Project Light is one of the most meaningful and joyful ways they give back. Classes meet weekly, friendships grow quickly, and every lesson makes a real difference in someone’s life.

We would love to welcome you into our Project Light family. 💛
