    Description

Do you want to contribute to supporting immigrant families but do not have much time, or don't know how? We would love to have you join our collective of volunteers that support our work through Peer to Peer fundraising.

If you do not have experience with peer to peer fundraising, fear not! New volunteers will complete a short training and be given all the materials and talking points needed to host a compelling P2P donor drive. This is a great opportunity for individuals who have a network of friends and acquaintances with some disposable income. That being said, every bit helps and you can adjust your ask based on your network.

To understand a bit more about the needs that our organization meets, here is a bit more information

Organized Communities Against Deportations is an undocumented-led collective based in Chicago, IL. We have been fighting deportations and criminalization since 2013 and in the last year our work has expanded to encompass much more. To date, our work includes:

    • Staffing the Family Support Hotline, where we refer those with a loved one detained to free legal aid support, mutual aid for financial assistance and to local community navigators for ongoing support.
    • Piloting a community navigator program where individuals across the city who are already supporting families impacted by ICE raids and detention to be trained in deportation defense organizing
    • Coordinating with volunteers and groups across the country to reunite individuals with their families after they have been released from detention.
    • Working with lawyers to strategize for creative ways to win releases and hold this administration accountable
    • Providing access to ongoing free therapy sessions for members who otherwise would not able to access mental health services
    • Leading deportation defense campaigns when the law is not a viable option for relief.
    • Coordinating mutual aid for families who have had a loved one detained.
    • Building leadership and organizing skills among our directly impacted members.
    • Remaining in coalition with many other groups across the city, state and country, as we recognize that only together can we win a better future.

We would love to have you join us!
