    Description

We believe in a world where everyone has a decent place to live. With the help of volunteers like you, we build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

Our homes are built almost entirely by volunteers, both skilled and unskilled. Whether you are a contractor or have never picked up a hammer, we need your help! All the tools and safety gear you need for the day is provided and no previous experience is necessary. Orientations take place weekly through zoom or we can send you a recorded orientation. Safety trainings take place at the start of each day.

    • Shift Options: Fridays & Saturdays: 8:30am-3:00pm
    • Minimum age: All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer on the construction site. Any volunteers under the age of 18 need to have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian and are not permitted to use power tools.
    • Clothing: Volunteers must wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting dirty. Dress appropriately for the weather and keep in mind that neither indoor nor outdoor work sites have heat or air conditioning.
    • Lunch is not provided: please bring a packed lunch, water, and any snacks you may want for the day. We usually take a 30-minute lunch break around noon.

Build sites can accommodate groups of up to 15 volunteers upon request.

    Private Group Details:

    • Group Size Range: 1 - 15
    • Groups are welcome on Fridays & Saturdays from 8:30am-3pm.
    • Sponsorship is required for corporate groups who register for a Group Build Day. We do not require sponsorship from civic groups, such as schools, churches, or service clubs.

We strive for a culture where people of every race, ethnicity, nationality, economic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, size, and disability are welcomed, empowered, and celebrated. Please contact us about any accessibility requirements you have so we can work together to accommodate you.

All individual construction volunteers (those not part of a Group Build Day) must complete background check after orientation. We understand this volunteer opportunity will not be the best fit for everyone, and therefore give folks a chance to attend orientation before completing the background check. We cannot accept volunteers with certain histories, including charges within the past 7 years related to theft and/or violence. Thank you for understanding.
