    Description

    SAVE TREES in Washington County

Please help us SAVE TREES in Washington County. Every effort counts. Volunteer with us.

Are you eager to make a positive impact on your local community? Join us and be part of our mission to empower local communities to save existing trees through advocacy, education, and mentorship.

    Our key strategies are:

    • We engage with local communities and advocate together to protect existing trees in unincorporated Washington County.
    • We collaborate with other organizations and volunteers to maintain or increase the tree canopy in Washington County, especially in schoolyards in lower-income communities.

Some of our projects include informative tree walks, saving trees on schoolyards, protecting trees at risk of development, pulling ivy, and advocating for tree protection policies.

    Why volunteer with us?*

    • Make a lasting impact: Your skills can inspire change and transform lives.
    • Gain valuable experience: Enhance your resume and learn new skills while making a positive impact. Our core team has expertise in many areas and has mentored other volunteers to help advance their careers.
    • Build connections: Join a community of passionate individuals and form lasting friendships.

    Explore fulfilling volunteer roles, including:

    • Hands-on tasks: Get outdoors and join us for our tree inventory efforts, pull ivy, water struggling trees, or help with a raking project!
    • Follow developments that threaten trees: Attend neighborhood meetings, learn about the Washington County land use process, and follow applications to advocate for trees.
    • Energize decision-makers and your community about the lack of tree protection: Track current developments, attend and report on relevant meetings, or testify to policymakers.
    • Project management: We need self-starters who have project management skills or want to learn them.
    • Community outreach: Do you enjoy talking to people? Plan outreach events, lead neighborhood tree inventories, or staff an information table.
    • Fundraising and grant writing: Trees need our support, and we need help with fundraising efforts. Our small, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization works with many environmental experts, but we also require experienced fundraisers. Additionally, we are seeking grants from various sources.
    • Technology support & media: Help us manage our website, social media, and newsletter to reach and influence more people!
    • Data analysis & mapping: Interested in data? Mapping developments or entering tree inventory data might be perfect for you!
