    Description

Turning Faith into Action: Empower Lives Through Language

Are you ready to experience the power of living your faith intentionally through service? A Faith That Does Justice (AFTDJ) invites you to join a community dedicated to challenging unjust societal structures and standing in solidarity with those who are marginalized. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to become ESOL Teachers and help our neighbors find their voice.

The Vision: Why Your Contribution Matters

Language is more than just words—it is a bridge to opportunity, dignity, and community.

      • Empower Adult Learners: Help individuals in vulnerable populations develop the essential language skills needed to obtain employment and live successfully in this country.
      • Champion Social Justice: Use your role as a teacher to build meaningful solidarity with immigrants and actively serve the cause of social justice.
      • Foster Connection: Beyond the classroom, you will create an expanded community network that enriches the lives of both students and teachers.

The Path to Impact: How It Works

We strive to make teaching accessible and impactful by providing all the curriculum and support you need to succeed.

      • The Commitment: Engage with students twice a week for a full 15-week cycle.
      • Session Times: Choose between Monday/Wednesday evenings (6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. ET) or Tuesday/Thursday mornings (9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. ET).
      • Location Flexibility: Join us in-person in Boston or lead virtual classes via Zoom and WhatsApp from anywhere in the country.
      • Resources Provided: No need to build a curriculum from scratch; we provide all lesson plans and textbooks for you and your students.

    Is This Calling for You?

You do not need to be a professional educator or bilingual to make a profound difference. We are looking for:

      • Patient and Engaging Individuals: People who are dedicated to the mission of empowerment.
      • Native English Speakers: While prior teaching experience is a plus, it is not required.
      • Inclusivity at Heart: We welcome members of all faiths and beliefs to join our mission of "inspiring faith in action."

    Take the Next Step

Our vision is a community where people intentionally live their faith in action. If you are ready to join us, the process is simple:

      1. Visit: Go to faith-justice.org/esol/ for more information.
      2. Apply: Submit your application directly through our website.
      3. Connect: A member of our team will contact you to discuss how you can start making an impact.
