Swim Across America – Seattle raises critical funding for innovative cancer researchers right here in the Seattle area. These scientists are pursuing bold, high‑potential ideas that could lead to the next generation of cancer breakthrough therapies.
But here’s the challenge: The National Cancer Institute (NCI) — the largest federal funder of cancer research — typically prioritizes projects with lower risk and proven early data. That means many of the most promising, imaginative, paradigm‑shifting ideas struggle to secure traditional funding.
This is where SAA – Seattle steps in.
We provide the early‑stage, high‑risk, high‑reward funding that allows researchers to explore new pathways, test unconventional hypotheses, and generate the preliminary data needed to unlock major federal grants later. In other words:
We fund the ideas that might otherwise never get a chance — the ideas that could change everything.
Specifically, SAA - Seattle needs a core group of volunteers to validate a pre-vetted list of various 2026 summer events and attend these validated events to recruit people to SAA as fundraisers.
