Our lives are not measured by what we get, but by what we give. If you have a natural gift for empathy and want to make a difference, we can help you be a force for good in the lives of those most in need.

Gentiva Hospice is looking for willing hearts to provide supportive presence to patients in their final days and hours by holding their hands, playing music, offering reassurance, creating a peaceful environment, etc. Human presence at end of life can help reduce pain, anxiety and fear. Vigil Volunteers may or may not be present when a patient takes their last breath.

NO medical experience is needed as volunteers DO NOT perform nursing duties or dispense medication.

To become a volunteer, all you need is a compassionate heart. Our volunteer training will teach you everything you need to know to be a companion for someone during their end-of-life journey. You’ll learn valuable skills in grief counseling, spiritual and emotional support, and end-of-life care.
