    Description

    Direct Service Volunteers provide support and resources directly to survivors of domestic violence and their communities. Opportunities include:

    • 24/7 Crisis Hotline Support
    • Text Line Support
    • Leading groups with children and youth residents at our confidential Shelter
    • Community tabling events
    • Teaching or sharing skills with clients (yoga teacher certification, crafting, cooking, and more!)

    Direct Service Volunteers must complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training before beginning volunteer work. The training is FREE for volunteers. We ask that Direct Service Volunteers plan to commit at least 4 hours of volunteer work per week for one year, or 100 total service hours.

    Requirements to Volunteer

    Anyone who is committed to supporting survivors and ending domestic violence can volunteer with La Casa. We are looking for volunteers who:

    • Can maintain the confidentiality of clients & shelter location
    • Are passionate about the movement to end domestic violence
    • Are compassionate, resourceful, patient, and excited to learn
    • Are committed to La Casa's mission to respond to calls for help from survivors 24/7
    • Are over the age of 18

    If you have accessed supportive services for domestic violence at La Casa or another organization, we ask that you wait at least 1 year before applying to volunteer with us.
