    Description

Volunteer Video Editor (Remote) | Nonprofit Social Media, Reels and Short Form Content

    About Us

Confronting Domestic Violence, Inc. (CDV) is a San Diego based nonprofit providing survivor support services and workplace violence prevention (SB 553) education for California employers. Our short form video is how survivors and employers find us.

    The Role

Edit short form video for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn. You will turn raw footage, interviews, and event clips into finished, captioned, on brand video. If you also enjoy automating repetitive workflows, we have plenty of that to hand you.

    Responsibilities

    • Edit short form vertical video (15 to 90 seconds) for social channels
    • Add captions, text overlays, music, and branded end cards
    • Repurpose long form footage, webinars, and event recordings into clips
    • Export in correct specs for each platform and hand off to the content calendar
    • Optional: build and maintain simple automations for content scheduling, file routing, asset organization, or reporting

    Qualifications

    • Working knowledge of at least one video editing tool
    • Eye for pacing, readable captions, and clean, non distracting edits
    • Reliable communicator who can meet simple weekly deadlines
    • Comfortable handling sensitive subject matter with care. We provide trauma informed content training.
    • Students, career changers, and self taught editors welcome. No degree required.

Programs You Should Know (or Be Willing to Learn)

CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Canva, or InShot. Google Drive for file handling. Bonus for automation interest: Zapier, Make, Airtable, Notion, Google Apps Script, Later, or Buffer.

    Time Commitment

5 to 10 hours per month (about 1 to 2 hours per week). Remote and flexible. This is an unpaid volunteer position.

    What You Get

Portfolio ready video work for a real mission driven organization, mentorship from a content strategist, training in trauma informed content and nonprofit brand standards, and a letter of recommendation for volunteers in good standing. Excellent for anyone building a video editing, motion design, social media, or digital marketing reel.

    One Small Ask

If you are only with us for a semester or a season, no problem at all. We would simply love it if you referred a friend or classmate to take your spot before you go. Our team runs on people who care.
