    Content Writer

    Position Summary

    The Volunteer Communication Specialist strengthens Paraklet Inc.’s visibility, credibility, and stakeholder engagement by producing high‑quality communication materials that highlight program impact, donor alignment, and the organization’s commitment to women’s and youth economic empowerment. This role supports digital communication, storytelling, brand consistency, and partner engagement across platforms.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Communication

    • Develop clear, compelling narratives that communicate Paraklet’s mission, values, and program achievements.
    • Ensure messaging aligns with donor priorities, safeguarding standards, and organizational strategy.
    • Support leadership with talking points, speeches, and stakeholder communication.

    Digital Content Development

    • Create and manage content for social media, website updates, newsletters, and digital campaigns.
    • Use analytics to strengthen engagement and improve communication performance.
    • Maintain consistent brand voice and visual identity across platforms.

    Storytelling & Impact Documentation

    • Capture and curate stories, photos, and field updates that demonstrate program impact.
    • Work with DRC field teams to ensure ethical documentation, informed consent, and safeguarding compliance.
    • Support donor reporting with high‑quality narrative and visual content.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Prepare communication materials for partners, donors, and community stakeholders.
    • Strengthen relationships with academic institutions, local partners, and development organizations.
    • Support event communication for workshops, seminars, and program launches.

    Internal Communication Support

    • Ensure timely, consistent communication across HQ and field teams.
    • Contribute to knowledge management systems that preserve institutional memory.
    • Support cross‑department coordination with Programs, MEL, Finance, and Operations.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills

    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
    • Experience with digital communication, social media management, or nonprofit communication.
    • Ability to translate complex program activities into clear, engaging content.
    • Familiarity with safeguarding, ethical documentation, and donor‑aligned communication.

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience working with development organizations or community‑based programs.
    • Basic design skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar tools).
    • Knowledge of women’s economic empowerment or youth development.
    • French or Swahili proficiency is an asset.

    Time Commitment

    Flexible, typically 5–10 hours per week, depending on communication needs and project timelines.

    Volunteer Status

    This is an unpaid volunteer role. The volunteer is not an employee of Paraklet Inc. and is not eligible for wages, benefits, or employment classification.
