    Crossroads at Park Place

    Description:

    Join Crossroads at Park Place in supporting our Houston community through a weekly drive-through food distribution. In partnership with the Houston Food Bank, we provide fresh produce and essential food items to individuals and families in need.

    We’re looking for dependable, compassionate volunteers to help us run an efficient and welcoming distribution each week. This is a hands-on opportunity to directly impact your community and ensure families have access to nutritious food.

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    Volunteers will be assigned roles based on ability, comfort level, and operational needs. Tasks may include:

    • Orientation Support: Welcome new volunteers, assist with training, and manage sign-ins
    • Setup: Arrange tables, bins, cones, and bags; prepare and stage boxes
    • Unload Truck: Assist with unloading bulk food items (requires heavy lifting)
    • Fill Bags: Sort and bag fresh produce, tying bags securely
    • Fill Boxes: Pack boxes with produce and other food items
    • Client Control: Greet clients, manage check-in lists, help maintain safe and orderly vehicle flow; Spanish language familiarity is a plus
    • Load Vehicles: Place food boxes into client vehicles with care and courtesy
    • Close Truck: Reload unused items and equipment onto the truck
    • Breakdown: Clean up and return all materials to storage

    Qualifications:

    • Friendly and respectful attitude toward clients and fellow volunteers
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Willingness to help where needed
    • Some roles require the ability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods
