    Description

    this is a volunteer position

About the Role: The Bolsa Chica Land Trust is seeking passionate college students (or recent graduates) to join us as Miracles of the Marsh Docents. In this experiential learning role, you will lead a two-mile outdoor walking tour for 3rd-grade students, guiding them through four interactive stations: plants, animals, history, and water. All training is provided, so you do not need to be an expert—you just need to be passionate about the environment and educating our next generation of conservationists!

    đź•’ The Ultimate Flexible Schedule:

Our tour season runs from January to June. Tours are booked sporadically by local schools, and shifts take place in the mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. There is no set weekly day commitment—you simply view our calendar and sign up for the morning slots that fit around your class schedule. We only ask for a minimum commitment of at least 5 tours for the entire season.

🚀 Career Benefits & Skills Gained:

Professional Recommendations: Dedicated docents can secure personalized letters of recommendation from our program leadership for graduate school, teaching credentials, or future job applications.

Resume-Building Skills: Gain hands-on career experience in public speaking, outdoor classroom management, group leadership, and science communication.

Stunning Work Environment: Spend your mornings outdoors in the beautiful Bolsa Chica wetlands surrounded by unique wildlife.

    Qualifications:

    • Great for students studying Education, Environmental Science, Biology, Sustainability, or related fields (or anyone with a passion for nature and working with kids).
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to keep young students engaged.
    • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable walking a two-mile outdoor trail.
