    Description

    Help bring your neighbors together

    • A park cleanup. A school-supply drive. A gathering to honor first responders. Sometimes, building a stronger community starts with someone willing to bring people together.
    • American Stewardship Initiative, a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan civic organization, is seeking volunteer Community Stewards to lead local groups through our Community Stewardship Program.
    • As a Community Steward, you’ll bring neighbors together for practical service, learning, and connection. You’ll build a small team of people you trust, host meaningful local gatherings, and help more residents take an active role in their community. ASI provides guidance, planning resources, and ongoing support.

    What you’ll do

    • Lead six community gatherings each year. Activities may include park cleanups, budgeting workshops, school-supply drives, veterans’ remembrance activities, first-responder appreciation events, and holiday food or toy collections.
    • Build a small local team. Start by inviting three trusted friends or neighbors to serve as “Connectors” who help welcome participants and support activities.
    • Help neighbors get involved. Participate with your team in two invitation nights and one neighborhood walk each year.
    • Be a welcoming host. Introduce people, thank volunteers, take group photos, and help participants feel connected.
    • Develop shared leadership. Identify a deputy who can help host gatherings and keep the group moving.
    • Stay connected with ASI. Participate in brief planning check-ins and a monthly leadership conversation with your Community Leadership Director.

    Who we’re looking for

This opportunity may be a good fit if you:

    • Care about your town and want to contribute to its future.
    • Enjoy meeting people and bringing neighbors together.
    • Are dependable, organized, and willing to follow through.
    • Can invite a few people you know to help.
    • Welcome neighbors with different backgrounds and viewpoints.
    • Are interested in community service and developing your leadership skills.
