    Nonprofit Executive Director / Experienced Manager (United States Applicants Only)

    Are you a seasoned or retired professional with the experience, time and resources to give back? Do you have a deep commitment to promoting education and uplifting communities, and you’re eager to leverage your skills to make a lasting impact. Do you have a passion for Africa that drives you to connect people in the U.S. with those in desperate need, fostering understanding and support across borders.

    About Us: Liberia Economic Development Initiative (LEDI) is dedicated to promoting education, literacy, and lifting individuals out of poverty in Liberia, West Africa. Our mission is to "reduce poverty and change lives" and believe in the power of education to create lasting change and are committed to bridging the gap between communities in the U.S. and Africa.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and visionary leadership to drive our mission forward.
    • External Outreach: Engage in outreach activities to obtain new sponsors, philanthropic donors, and grants.
    • Fundraising: Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies, including establishing social media campaigns and recruiting individuals to host personalized fundraising efforts.
    • Community Engagement: Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with community organizations, donors, and stakeholders.
    • Advocacy: Promote awareness of our mission and impact, inspiring others to join our cause.
    • Storytelling: Share compelling stories of our work to engage supporters and convey the importance of our mission.
    • Event Planning: Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events to build community support.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit organizations or community initiatives.
    • Board recruitment and management.
    • Experience in external outreach, including working with philanthropists, grant-giving organizations, and engaging with gatekeepers.
    • A strong passion for education, literacy, and alleviating poverty in Africa.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
    • Prior experience in nonprofit grant writing is a plus!
    • Ability to rally individuals and organizations around our mission.
    • Event planning skills and a creative approach to outreach and engagement.
