🐾 Volunteer Opportunity: Program Director – Somerville Animal Food Pantry

The Somerville Animal Food Pantry has been proudly serving the Somerville, Cambridge, and Medford communities for over two years, helping to keep pets and families together by ensuring no animal goes hungry.

Our wonderful Program Director is moving into a new chapter of her life, and we’re looking for a passionate, organized, and community-minded individual to carry on this important work.

About the Pantry

We don’t have a physical location — instead, patrons request assistance through an online form, and our volunteers deliver pet food and supplies directly to them. This allows us to serve more people, reduce barriers to access, and ensure that pets in our community are cared for where they are most comfortable: at home.

About the Role

This is an entirely volunteer position. The Program Director oversees day-to-day coordination, outreach, and operations, working with a dedicated team of volunteers, donors, and partner organizations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support a team of volunteers
• Coordinate food deliveries and inventory management
• Oversee community outreach and partnerships
• Maintain communication with clients and donors
• Help plan fundraising and awareness initiatives

Ideal Candidate

• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Compassionate and community-focused
• Comfortable using online tools for coordination and outreach
• Experience with volunteer management or nonprofit work a plus
• Available for a few hours each week (schedule flexible)
