    Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Summer Youth Activities Volunteers to help bring our summer afternoons to life! You will play a vital role in facilitating fun, hands-on activities that give children a sense of normalcy and joy during their time of transition. Whether you love leading arts and crafts, playing board games, reading, or facilitating outdoor recreation, we would love to have you on our team. We are specifically looking for the hours of 1pm-3pm.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Activity Facilitation: Lead or assist with daily activities, which may include arts and crafts, reading sessions, board games in the family playroom, or outdoor games in the shelter’s backyard.
    • Child Engagement: Keep children of various ages focused, engaged, and included in the daily activities while fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
    • Event Logistics: Assist with the setup and cleanup of the activity spaces each day.
    • Safety Monitoring: Ensure all activities are conducted safely on-site and follow the shelter's standard safety protocols.

    What We Are Looking For

    • Patience, empathy, and a positive, welcoming attitude when working with children experiencing transition.
    • Ability to gently guide and redirect kids who may become distracted.
    • A willingness to jump in and participate—whether that means finger painting, building blocks, or playing a game of tag!
    • A willingness to be paired with and work with other individuals to ensure 5-15 children are carefully managed during play activities.
    • Note: Volunteers must be willing to complete a standard background check and confidentiality agreement prior to starting.
