    Description

    One Mission Cambridge is seeking a half-time AmeriCorps member for the 2026-2027 service year.

    One Mission Cambridge is a coalition of Christian groups and community partners committed to providing hope by meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of men, women, and children in Dorchester County, Maryland. Since opening in June 2022, One Mission Cambridge has become a vital community resource for individuals and families experiencing poverty. Operating from a centrally located mission center in a low-income Cambridge neighborhood, the organization offers accessible, compassionate services that meet immediate needs while fostering long-term stability. A coalition of local churches, in partnership with dedicated community leaders and volunteers, manages the mission center.

    Core services include a client-choice food pantry, community navigation and resource assistance, counseling programs, and monthly community dinners. The center also features a welcoming café that provides a safe, dignified space for meals, conversation, and encouragement. Through relationship-based programming, One Mission Cambridge builds trust, strengthens community bonds, and restores hope.

    The AmeriCorps member will contribute to the overall efficiency, outreach, and impact of the Mission Center’s efforts by supporting daily operations and assisting the Mission Center Manager with a variety of administrative, service, and community engagement responsibilities

    Member Responsibilities to include:

    • Maintaining and updating client and service databases
    • Supporting case management services through client intake and resource coordination
    • Organizing and communicating with volunteers
    • Assisting with the management and distribution of donated goods
    • Helping to support the organization’s online store operations, including inventory organization, posting items, and coordinating sales that help generate funding for mission-based programs and services.

    Requirements for applicants include the following:

    • Have a strong interest in serving the community
    • Be able to relate to diverse populations
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Able to provide copy of either high school diploma, GED, or college transcript
    • Have reliable transportation
    • Be available to attend the free, AmeriCorps class at SU alternate Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., during the Fall and Spring semesters.
    • Must successfully pass a comprehensive Criminal History Check, which includes FBI fingerprinting
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien
    • Applicants DO NOT need to be college students, anyone from the community who fits the above requirements may participate.

    Benefits available to the AmeriCorps Member:

    • A bi-weekly stipend of $562
    • An education award of $3,697 for future educational expenses or repayment of student loans
    • members who are age 55 or older may gift their ed. award to a child or grandchild
    • Federal studentloan forbearance while in service,with exemption from paying interest accrued during that time upon completion
    • 8 tuition-free credits at Salisbury University for completion of training course
    • Access to AmeriCorps Alumni Network

    Member should be available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 1-5 pm, and other hours for assisting with the online store. Days and times for store assistance will be coordinated with the Americorps member and manager to make the most of their time.

    Members will begin on or after August 15th, 2026 and must complete 900 hours by August 14th, 2027.

    This position is offered through a partnership with ShoreCorps, the AmeriCorps program at Salisbury University. It is contingent upon federal funding and approval of the AmeriCorps office.
