DEBBO Leadership Trust is seeking an experienced Marketing & Communications professional to join its volunteer Board of Directors as a Marketing & Communications Board Member.
This is an opportunity to use your expertise in marketing, communications, branding, storytelling, and public engagement to help an emerging nonprofit expand its reach and impact. DEBBO Leadership Trust empowers professionals, entrepreneurs, and emerging leaders through leadership development, coaching, mentorship and community-driven growth inspired by the African philosophy of DEBBO, collective action for mutual success. This philosophy is central to the organization's mission and programs.
As a Board Member, you will help shape the organization's communication strategy, increase visibility, strengthen stakeholder engagement and position DEBBO Leadership Trust as a trusted leadership development organization serving professionals and entrepreneurs.
Your contributions will directly support our ability to attract volunteers, donors, strategic partners and future program participants.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of the organization's marketing and communications efforts.
- Help strengthen DEBBO Leadership Trust's brand identity and public awareness.
- Advise on marketing strategy, digital engagement, and community outreach.
- Support the development of annual marketing and communications plans.
- Review messaging to ensure consistency across platforms.
- Help increase visibility through media, partnerships, speaking opportunities, and public relations.
- Support fundraising campaigns through compelling storytelling and donor communications.
- Provide guidance on website, social media, newsletters, and content strategy.
- Participate actively in quarterly board meetings and committee meetings.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Director on organizational growth and visibility.
- Help identify strategic partnerships, sponsors, media contacts, and community engagement opportunities.
- Serve as an ambassador for DEBBO Leadership Trust within your professional network.

- Strategic thinking and creativity.
- Passion for leadership development and community impact.

Ideal candidates have experience in marketing, communications, branding, public relations, digital marketing, content strategy, nonprofit communications, or organizational storytelling. Previous nonprofit board experience is welcome but not required.
Board Members Are Expected To
- Attend regular virtual board meetings.
- Serve actively on the Marketing & Communications Committee.
- Support strategic marketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives.
- Help expand organizational visibility and stakeholder engagement.
- Commit approximately 4–6 hours per month for an initial one-year term.
